In collaboration with the City of Tallahassee Senior Center Foundation, Leadership Tallahassee offers an eight-week program to help seniors sharpen leadership skills, learn more about the community, as well offer their talent and experience as a resource to create positive change.
Becoming a senior doesn’t mean slowing down – at least not for those who elect to participate in the Tallahassee Active Lifelong Leadership (TALL) program. TALL provides an opportunity for area seniors to enhance positive change in the community through advocacy and volunteerism.
TALL is an opportunity for interested seniors (55+) to obtain an in-depth look at various aspects of our community. Participants are provided with a “snapshot” of the cultural, political, safety, legal and justice, educational, environmental, and health and human services aspects of our community. This is accomplished through site visits, connections with community leaders, as well as interactive activities. Throughout the program individuals become better equipped to enhance positive change and growth in the community.
Program days include site visits to cultural centers, government centers, law enforcement agencies and other venues throughout the community. The program days foster an awareness of available services, challenges and opportunities in Tallahassee and Leon County. TALL class members assemble weekly for eight weeks. Presentations, interactive discussions and hands-on activities help the lifelong learners become more alert to offerings within the area.
The extremely popular TALL program involves members of the Tallahassee community as participants, sponsors, facilitators and educators.
Tallahassee Active Lifelong Leaders (TALL) is now accepting applications for Class 5. Program days will be every Tuesday from January 24 thru March 13, 2012.
