Leadership Tallahassee

Leadership Tallahassee is a 12-month program that showcases our community. It is comprised of a diverse network of leaders and community volunteers who are committed to shaping our community both economically and socially while building and expanding their network.

About the Program

Goals

  • To build a network of community trustees who have enhanced their leadership skills through shared perspectives and working together
  • To develop an awareness of the challenges and opportunities in the community by examining major issues
  • To interact with both emerging and established community leaders
  • To become educated and motivated to assume leadership roles in the community

Program Format

The program begins with an orientation in July, followed by a two-day retreat in August, and continues each month through June with monthly day-long sessions. These sessions present activities and hands-on experiences related to timely topics including: community leadership, education, government, arts, economic development, health care, human services, justice law enforcement and environment.

Commitment Beyond Graduation

It is anticipated that all Leadership Tallahassee graduates will continue their commitment to the program after completing the class year by becoming involved with our alumni program or Youth Leadership Tallahassee.

After one year, not only have you developed friendships that will last a lifetime, but you are now a member of an organization that continually gives back to the community. You will have opportunities to network with other alumni through quarterly luncheons with topics of relevance not only for your professional development, but for your personal growth. In addition, LT hosts social events throughout the year that recognize and cultivate community leaders and allow you to expand your social capital.

The Leadership Tallahassee Class program for adults is designed to provide a foundation for a commitment to effective leadership by educating and challenging emerging and existing community leaders on key issues affecting the political, business, human service and cultural activities in Tallahassee, as well as to encourage and facilitate positive change in the community through volunteer involvement. The end result is a network of leaders dedicated to understanding and improving the quality of life in our region.
